Taijiquan ('Supreme Ultimate Fist') is a martial art, YES, A MARTIAL ART, which mixes ancient fighting techniques with traditional Chinese meditation and qigong. Taiji makes a balance between all this aspects of ancient Chinese life. Daoism is centered in Taiji philosophy. Daoist is the study of the "Dao", or the Natural Way. Taijiquan is a set of flowing movements practiced slowly which helps to promote great health and well-being. Taijiquan emphasizes the development of a strong root, proper body alignment, efficient movement, and a calm and relaxed mind and body. But remember, Taijiquan is a martial art. It uses softness to overcome hardness, uprooting the opponent, redirecting incoming force, and striking vital points.
